Verse of the Day:
Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices – Colossians 3:9
Devotion:
Much of my teenage years were spent trying to be someone that I wasn’t. I wanted so badly to be liked, that I often acted differently based on who I was around to gain respect from others. Sometimes it meant hiding my Christianity, other times, it was being quiet to not draw attention to myself.
But regardless of how hard I tried to get people to like me, I always fell short. I was never happy and often I felt conflicted that I wasn’t being genuine with the people around me.
One of the best things you can do if you want good and lasting friendships is to be genuine. Hiding who you are or faking like you’re someone else won’t gain respect from others in the long run.
Be who you are. Be who God created you to be. Don’t hide your faith, hoping to gain popularity. Instead, if you’ll simply be genuine and real about your faith, you’ll find that more people respect you in the long run.
Announcements:
Junior Class Prom Meeting: As it is the Junior class that plans and organizes prom, our first meeting will be at lunch on Tuesday, Jan. 27th in Room 9 for any Juniors (and/or Junior parents) interested in being a part of the planning/organizing group. We will cover as many items as we can, including venue, theme, color, decor, and food choice.
JH February Donation Drive: As a spin on the typical “love” month of February, we are starting a donation drive we are calling “Share the Love, Share the Word.” We are raising money to share Christ’s love by helping worldwide ministries buy Bibles and share the Gospel message around the world with physical and digital Bibles, as well as stories, in their respective languages. Donate your spare change into donation cans at 5 locations on campus: Mr. March’s room, Mr. Gossenberger’s room, Mrs. Gilmore’s room, Ms. Bell’s room, and one in the District Office. We will be collecting over 5 weeks - starting 1/26 and ending 2/27.
HS Girls: If you would like to tryout for our beach volleyball team this spring please fill out this short survey. Tryouts dates to come!
JH/HS Students: To request a change in your schedule, you need to fill out this form and someone from the counseling department will get back to you as soon as possible. They are not accepting walk-ins in the office.
